About Intuit QuickBooks for Business
The shoebox of receipts is the enemy, and QuickBooks is built to kill it. Intuit's accounting app for small businesses and the self-employed puts the whole back office on your phone: invoicing, expense tracking, bookkeeping, and payments, handled wherever the work actually happens — which is rarely at a desk.
The daily mechanics are strong. Snap a photo of a receipt, a business card, or a handwritten note and the details are captured into your books. Invoices are created and sent from the phone, and customers can pay online right away; you can also accept payment in person, from physical cards to digital wallets, with every transaction recorded automatically. Driving for work is covered too — GPS mileage tracking logs trips so the deductions are waiting at tax time.
The reporting side is where it justifies itself. Projected cash-flow reports show where the business is heading, custom reports and personalized insights drill into the numbers from anywhere, and automations — set up from templates, or described in plain words to Intuit Intelligence — turn answers into actions, like following up on leads the app surfaces from your email.
It is subscription software, and PCMag rated it the #1 accounting software for small businesses in 2025. For a one-person business doing its own books, it is close to the default choice — the whole design assumes you would rather be doing the work than accounting for it.
