Facebook

Facebook is the social network that ate the others' lunch for twenty years and still feeds most of the planet — this listing's install count reads 10B+, which tells its own story. The app today is a bundle of neighborhoods: a personalized Feed, Groups, Marketplace and Reels, all under one profile with your real name on it.

Marketplace is the sleeper hit: a local thrift economy where people buy and sell everything from bikes to hobby gear — the 'hidden gems' the listing mentions are genuinely how many users furnish homes now. Groups are the other pillar, millions of interest communities where the advice comes from people who've actually done the thing you're attempting.

The feed itself is tunable: personalize it to see more of what you like and less of what you don't, follow creators alongside friends, and decide how closely to keep up with each person. Reels serve the short-video habit matched to your interests, Stories catch the quick moments, and built-in Meta AI answers questions on the spot — even making custom stickers and images with generative AI when words aren't enough.

Sharing controls run per post: who sees what is your call, down to the audience for each update. Video and voice calls keep catch-ups inside the same app, and the listing notes some features vary by country or region. It's less one app than a small internet — which is precisely why it stays the default home screen icon for so many people.
