About ibis Paint X
"Drawing looks hard" is the exact person ibis Paint X was built for. It is a full illustration and animation studio for phones and tablets that assumes nothing — the interface stays simple enough to open without hesitation — yet the series has passed 500 million downloads because beginners stay and grow into it rather than out of it.
The raw material library is absurdly large: more than 130,000 brushes, 30,000 materials, 3,000 fonts, 86 image filters, 46 screentones (a manga artist's best friend), and 27 layer blend modes. Vector tools, a reference window, and radial and symmetry rulers handle the precise work, and supported digital styluses connect for pressure-sensitive drawing.
Animation is built in, not bolted on: frame-by-frame work that can grow into videos with background music and audio. The makers also run a drawing tutorial channel that teaches the app piece by piece, which is part of why first-timers stick around — help is one tap past the canvas.
The free version is a real tool, not a demo with a paywall in the middle, though paid plans exist for those who want more (one adds an AI Disturbance feature that obstructs AI scraping of your art). For manga, illustration, or your first-ever digital drawing, few apps lower the starting line this far while keeping the ceiling this high.
