The Amazon app is the whole store in your pocket — millions of products to browse, search, review and buy — tuned to be quicker than the desktop site, with app-only touches layered on top. For most people it's simply the default way they shop Amazon now: the basket, the lists and the checkout are all one thumb away.

Product pages do more work here than on paper. A 360-degree view turns items around so you can inspect them from every side, and 'View in your room' uses the camera to drop furniture and appliances into your actual space to check the fit before ordering. Reading the reviews — the part shoppers actually trust — is front and center.

After checkout, the app becomes a tracking board: real-time delivery updates and notifications follow each package to the door. Saving items with the heart icon builds Your Lists, and the app pings you when a listed item drops in price. Can't name the thing you want? Tap the scan icon, photograph it, and Amazon will try to find it for you.

Small kindnesses round it out: you can stay securely signed in, or unlock with face or fingerprint instead of a password, and customer support runs as live chat around the clock, seven days a week. It asks for a fair set of permissions — camera, microphone, location — each tied to a feature like visual search, voice search or local offers, and the listing explains them plainly.
