ReelShort - Stream Drama & TV

One minute. That's the unit ReelShort thinks in — full dramas sliced into vertical episodes of about sixty seconds, each ending on a hook, designed for people who never finish movies and resent paying for subscriptions they don't use. The New York Times, quoted in the listing, calls it the biggest player in this new genre.

The featured titles tell you the flavor: 'Move Aside! I'm the Final Boss' hides a secret corporate king, 'Baby, Just Say Yes!' starts with a betrayal by a fiancé and a sister, and 'Don't Miss Me When I'm Gone' goes for heartbreak instead. Billionaires, comebacks, tragedies, love and revenge — melodrama at full strength, in miniature.

Some stories are interactive, letting you decide what happens next, which suits the format's game-like rhythm. The catalog is exclusive, filmed to what the listing calls Hollywood quality for the small HD screen, and it moves fast: new shows and movies land daily, with hundreds of new episodes a month.

ReelShort comes from Crazy Maple Studio and has the press clippings to show for it — TIME100 recognition and a Wall Street Journal note that every minute has a hook. If you sample one micro-drama app to understand the phenomenon, this is the obvious candidate: the genre's flagship, for better and for cliffhanger.
