About Duolingo: Learn Languages
Duolingo turns language learning into short, game-like lessons that fit into a normal day. It is a free app for learning more than 40 languages, with quick, bite-size lessons that cover speaking, reading, listening and writing. Spanish, French, German, Chinese, Italian, Russian, Portuguese and English are among the courses, and the aim is practical: preparing you for real conversations, whether for travel, school, work or general brain health.
The method is designed by learning experts and built around small, regular steps. Playful rewards and achievements mark your progress, and tracking your goals helps keep a streak of study going without turning it into a chore. Character tutors and game-style lessons are meant to make practice feel lighter, while the science-based structure keeps the lessons moving in a sensible order.
Languages are only part of the app now. Math lessons build real-world skills, from calculating tips to identifying patterns. The Music course teaches you to read music and play popular songs on your device, with no instrument needed. Chess covers the basics, helps you master moves and level up your game, and includes online play.
Duolingo Max adds AI-powered practice for real conversations, including video call features. Taken together, the app works best as a daily habit: a few short lessons at a time, a clear record of what you have learned, and new subjects to try when you want a change from language study.
