About Cash App
Cash App started as the easiest way to pay a friend back, and the payments core is still its best trick: send money instantly and free using a phone number, email, $cashtag or QR code, with security features designed to flag scams before your money moves.
Around that core, Block has built most of a bank. Direct deposit can land your pay up to two days early, there's no minimum balance, and you can split each paycheck automatically between spending, savings, stocks and bitcoin. The customizable Cash App Card is a Visa debit card that works with Apple Pay and Google Pay, with real-time alerts, 24/7 fraud monitoring and no monthly fees.
Saving and investing stay low-friction: round up spare change into savings, stocks or bitcoin, and buy stocks or bitcoin from as little as $1, with no commission fees on stocks. Qualifying for Green status raises savings interest to up to 3.5% and adds free in-network ATM withdrawals plus up to $200 of overdraft coverage. There's also a borrow option for short-term cash.
Families are part of the pitch: teens aged 13 to 17 can use Cash App when sponsored by a parent or guardian, with parental controls attached. The honest footnote from the source itself: Cash App is a financial services platform, not a bank — banking services come through its partner banks. For splitting rent and quietly stacking savings in one place, it covers a lot of ground.
